Name: Simone
Stawicki
Date of birth: 6 may 1966
Connected to: Continental Artists (www.continentalart.org), Mansarde,
Sermo, Stichting Atelierroute Huizen,
Art
site en Cultuurnet.
Training: The
Academy of Art “Artibus” in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Field
of study was Monumental Art, specialising in painting.
Activities: After leaving the Academy of Art, in 1988, my works
reveal the development of my own true vision.
I exhibit regularly throughout the whole country. My works have been sold to
business and private persons. In 1997, together with a fellow artist, I
organised an open artist’s studio route in Huizen. This has become an annual
event that draws more visitors each year.
For the National Open Monuments day and the open artist’s studio route, in
1998, we also made an object that was 35 meters in length in the old part of
Huizen. In 2004 some of my work is added to the collection of the Continental
Art Centre in Rotterdam. In 2005 the pianist Jos Buitink and I organised 'The
day of music and art'. This is an annual event in Huizen, the Netherlands. In
2006 pianist Jos Buitink, bass player Rob Romijn, drummer Ray Chandar and I
started the project Sermo. Sermo improvises music and painting for a live
audience. At the performance the painting inspires the musicians and the music
inspires the artist. In 2006 I went on a study tour to China.
Besides my works as an artist, I also teach a drawing and painting course one
morning and evening a week. This course focuses on expression and techniques.
Works: My
works are mainly on canvas, but also include drawings, panels and monotypes. I
prefer working with acrylic paint and pastels, and often use both in my works.
After a period of working with natural materials, which I used in my panels, and
making some objects and ceramics, I returned to two-dimensional. I work in a
direct way though which I create an abstract language that can evoke emotions.
This way of working creates a sensitive handwriting. In which creating harmony
though contrasts is important.
Vision: Art
is thinking about God, man and society. Also, Art cannot be seen apart from
science. I try to convey this abstractly, for it is communication from soul to
soul; communication in the most direct way.
Art
is vision.
